I made this argument back in the Obama era....but American voters are not right of centre ideologically. When proposed with "progressive" policies without any of the political baggage there is overwhelming support for gun control, single payer health care, well funded schools, roads, bridges, infrastructure investment, etc, etc, etc. The Democrats have done a historically poor job of messaging and beating Republicans at the gamesmanship of it all but the policies are very, very popular. This idea that Democrats constantly have to move to the centre is bullshit, plain and simple. They're on the winning side of every major issue. Stop being pussies, and lean into that. Stop using left wing focus group friendly buzzwords that Republicans just load (equity, equality, DEI, etc,) and use against you. Do what Walz does "we're feeding kids, only weirdos don't want to feed kids".
