OT: American Politics

it's really, really tough to embrace the Bushes and Cheneys.

really fucking tough.
I don't think enough attention is being paid to the importance of Republicans openly campaigning for Kamala.

Creates a permission structure, and if polling is to be believed, upwards of 10% of Republicans are gonna take advantage of it.

so yeah, I get it. but I think it's necessary and valuable too, at the same time.

I don't think you realize how much republicans despise these political families that have done nothing for them. It has as much influence as hollywood celebs endorsements.

it also feeds the worst of the uniparty deep state shit unfortunately.

I can take their daughters doing it, but i sure as hell wish Dick stayed out of it.

Obviously adding more buyers to the market will have some inflationary impacts. But a) these are much less than what you first claimed they'd be, and b) these first time buyers would STILL be in a much better situation even with some inflationary impact on house prices - they would still actually get to be homeowners instead of renters.

(in fact, as now homeowners, they would even start to benefit from that inflationary impact!)
Point being that adding inflationary fuel to a segment that has not lacked for it the last 4 years is dumb. As I previously mentioned, this will be used as leverage in every home sell.

The political parties of old that only wanted never-ending wars and clearly didn't care about average americans.

but everyone knows that buying your first home is one of the biggest steps you can take towards financial security. it's well worth it, especially if other steps are taken elsewhere to lower that inflationary pressure.

I'm not just talking about the Bushes and Cheneys.

Kinzinger. Geoff Duncan. George Conway. Tim Miller. Rick Wilson. Jeff Flake. there are many more. both elected officials and not

It makes sense for any new President to have 1 or 2 smart people from the other side in their cabinet.

Kamala has already indicated she's open to this, so it's going to be interesting to see who it is. I'd rather see Adam Kinzinger get a look, I'm sure there is a post that would make sense for Liz Cheney but I'd definitely prefer it not be AG or Defense.

Kinzinger > Cheney.

and even then, I don't think you'd wanna vault him to SecDefence off the get go...

Agreed.

AG will be a really important job. Having Cheney as AG (or any Republican) would at least provide some insulation against Trump prosecutions being purely political, even though it does feed the uniparty nonsense. She definitely would not be as feckless as Garland. And Trump is very guilty when it comes to the classified documents case, J6 and Georgia.
