OT: American Politics

Trump tarriffs might be worth it. We all pay a bit more but we watch Trump approval ratings sink to shit as he unleashes more inflation down south. Maybe then a few GOPers grow a backbone

Getting somewhat lost in all this is that only way Trump can impose tarriffs is under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) where he can regulate commerce during a declared national emergency related to an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to U.S. national security, economy, or foreign policy.

Seems like a pretty simple thing to challenge in court, given that Canada is no grave threat.

If only there was a 2nd political party down there who would consider challenging...anything at fucking all.

First time ever wifey and I boycotted US at the grocery.

We have stuff Poland, Guatemala, Italy (we always do anyway), France (hon hon), Peru and, of course, Mexico and Canada.

At least I don’t have to give up my Kraft peanut butter.
I can keep eating my breakfast of peanut butter with a bit of toast on it.

Some things are virtually impossible to avoid. But if we had a choice, we made it.

We tried to buy from Canada (first) and Mexico (second) as much as possible.
