We need to get comfortable with a few things that Canada has never really been comfortable with
1) Our oligopolies treat us no better than international NMC's would. It's weird to say at a time like this, but we need more non Canadian competition, not less. We need to buy Canadian made products more, absolutely....but Canadian service providers? The "3 oligopolies in a trenchcoat" that make up our economy? They're in the way. Now, with that said....Europe please. Vodafone would shake up our telecom industry, Aldi would feed Loblaw's their lunch, etc.
2) Climate change is fucking important....but...fuck....we really need to spend about 100 billion dollars building out energy infrastructure. Basically a self funded marshall plan. Pipelines, refinery upgrades, port infrastructure, rail...so much rail, passenger and separate cargo so we don't lac magentic ourselves again.
3) We've gotten to ignore our military for...well...ever. Can't anymore. Just can't. Have to find the money for it. Fix procurement first, but we have to find the money into getting ahead of the curve on tomorrow's military needs. The Ukies have shown us that domestic drone industries can be bootstrapped in a fucking cave, we need to fund the development of a domestic arms industry.
