Yup.
Prosperity is a dangerous idea for the average Russian to experience so close, enjoyed by people they've been told are their inferiors. Remember the shock that Russian soldiers had is seeing so much indoor plumbing, washing machines, and nutella when they invaded. Vlad couldn't have that spreading.

He is less grounded in reality than Donald Trump. You see it every day with his tweets, he believes things that a 12-year-old who was raised by wolves in the jungle would find ridiculous. I have no idea how the country gets out of this mess, unless actual Repubs and Dems in the actual government can find a way to force him out.
