OT: American Politics

I mean if some Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon fans do appreciate that Newsom was willing to engage and decide to listen to his podcast from time to time, then you bring on Paul Krugman, who knows .. maybe you start to change a few people's minds based on the facts.
SPOILER ALERT: They do not appreciate it.

They watched, if they watched at all, to see their hero own another lib. Nothing more.

Absolutely has to be part of the argument. You have to get to listen first, though. Newsom spars with Hannity all the time, he enjoys this shit and he's good at it too. (generally speaking, i haven't listened to these podcasts)
Hannity and Tucker aren't real MAGA. They're MAGA of convenience because it's how they make their money. For them, platforming and amplifying fascism is just a job. They like being close to power and they wouldn't say no to an invite to Mar-a-Lago, but they know it's all bullshit. MAGA makes them rich. It's much easier to grift idiots devoid of critical thinking skills than it is to grift smart people so they do what's easy and lucrative.

The best, most unproblematic uber-rich tech person in modern history by far is still this guy:

Made a successful business and sold it for more than half a billion dollars.

Then promptly completely dropped off the public radar and has spent the rest of his life since not working any job, not trying to be a public figure or amass political power or social influence and hasn’t feverishly worked to further grow his fortune to the GDP of a small nation. Instead he’s quietly enjoyed his wealth and his unlimited ability to indulge his interest in travel & photography.

It’s completely beyond my understanding why more of these guys don’t do this.
Because most uber wealthy guys get Uber wealthy because they are addicted to money, the pursuit of it, and the power they derive from it. They don't have "hobbies", just appetites, and they are not the sort of people who understand the concept of "enough". If they were people with personalities like that, they'd never have gotten so rich in the first place.

And let's face it, to get rich like Musk or Trump requires a certain level of sociopathy, flexible morals and ethics (or none at all) and a willingness or even pleasure in causing others to suffer. Simply put, there are no "nice guy", virtuous billionaires. That's not how they are made. In real life, Bruce Wayne is Musk. Altruism is just a line item on the income tax return that they use to not pay taxes.

All billionaires are "necessarily" amoral, self-serving, and, for lack of a better term, evil. If they were not those things, they'd never get very rich because wealth doesn't just fall out of the sky. It's generated from exploitation. If you haven't got the stomach to exploit people you can never be a billionaire.
