Something I haven't seen mentioned enough is that the underlying truth of this is that this national security team is actively harming national security to make domestic accountability harder or impossible. That's the prime motivating force here. Signal isn't beyond the reach of America's adversaries. Fuck, it's the opposite. This shit is a fucking bonanza for China and Russia. They're very likely reading communications between these chucklefucks in real time. Signal is beyond the reach of subpoena or the power of the US court system though, which is of course the point of using it.

yah Timothy Snyder had a really good piece on this in his substack this morning.

it's a deliberate choice they're making to harm national security, so that they can more easily deprive Americans of their rights and avoid accountability and due process. it's really bad.
