I was telling a few smart folks on twitter that the normal rules of mean regression and fear indexes don’t really apply when the world order that has fuelled market gains for multiple decades is being reconfigured.

some of these people would still consult their trusty indicators if nuclear war started tomorrow

If anything, the selling so far has been pretty orderly with solid bids during the entire day

Yeah, it's been a few years since I market watched like I have this week and that was the sense I got. Small orderly moves downward, always met with resistence after each relatively small move downward. It just didn't feel like the market understands what is going on. I think a whole lot of big market participants think this is just Trump negotiating, that this is all going to be reversed in a week or two and they feel like they're getting to buy everything they want on steep discount.
