OT: American Politics

Hopefully?

His dad lived to be 94, and his mom 88.

Trump is already incoherent and clearly insane and it doesn’t matter, so as long as he is breathing and can be carted out to cuss out immigrants, the movement survives IMO.

If Dotard lives as long as his dad, that’s another 16 years. At which time the 2020s sins of Stephen Miller will have been superseded by things much more sinister.
In a nation saturated with assault rifles, I don't know if Trump's heart gives out before a bullet fired by a guy with better aim comes along.

And Fred Trump might have lived to 94 but his diet did not consist almost exclusively of Big Macs and I don't believe he was on the kind of drugs that Dotard is taking. He also wasn't a fat bastard like his kid, either.

He’s probably dead or brain dead. Or has been tortured and they can’t let that see the light of day.
He'll "slip on a bar of soap in the shower" before he'll ever be seen again. He's not coming back. They don't want to set that precedent. What they want is for 100% of the people they send to El Salvador to stay there, whether they were mistakenly arrested or not, because eventually they'll be doing this to all brown people, not just those alleged to have committed crimes or to be in the US illegally. That's what Trump meant by "homegrowns". Today, it's a mistake, but by tomorrow it will simply be policy.

Markets remaining steady is making me think this is a case of Mindz's 'things will look normal until it all collapses'

I probably consume too much media, and something that's been irking me more than usual when I listen to American anaylsts across different disciplines lately is how deeply entrenched American exceptionalism is in their thinking. Ian Bremmer was on Galloway's podcast the other day (Scott Galloway being one of the few who seems to actually understand how much America relies on the rest of the world) and I wanted to punch my monitor. Bremmer is hardly Maga, but his very sober sounding analysis was that Carney (who he's a personal friend of) will buckle and bow down to Trump in trade, Ukraine can't resist Russia without American assistance (we're going on 6 months now with fairly minimal or non existing American support and continue to hold up), that Europe can't stand against Russia without American help if Russia wins in Ukraine (Russia can't seem to beat one non EU country ffs, a combined EU forces would grind Russia into a fine powder).

The Americans are going to have their heads as far up their own asses as they can get them right up until the moment the burrito of consequences reaches it's final form.

that's the real problem at the root of this.

they think american greatness comes from genes, instead of principles.

despite all historical evidence to the contrary.

Yup. Why did America flourish? Because rule of law, personal freedom, free markets, etc, etc. Why did China never catch them despite that being the geopolitical soundtrack of the 00's-10's through multiple American financial crashes, military misadventures, etc? Because no rule of law, no personal freedom, no free markets.

Why is Europe the future? See above.
