at this point my only question isn't whether any of the world bothers listening to trump now, cuz they don't, but whether they'll ever listen to another US prez again.

I hope the Europeans have learned enough over the past year to realize now that no matter what deal they sign, Trump's just going to violate the terms of that deal anyway and slap them with arbitrary tariffs whenever he has a hissy fit over something insane like Europe not being willing to join in on his Iran war, something entirely made up out of whole cloth like the whole Fentanyl thing with Canada, or for no reason at all really.
So they may as well just tell him to go fuck himself and rip up the trade deal.

The core issue isn't even Trump. It's the voters who put Trump in power twice. How do you trust the US again even if you think a specific administration from 2028 onward is trustworthy? They could be gone in 2032 and President Miller could be raging about the deals you signed with the immigrant loving democrats in 2029.
Distance from the US is national security until they prove they're not fucking insane for 2-3 cycles.

Another Barack Obama would go a long way to restoring relationships and trust, but yeah, a lot of things are going to take a decade or more to rebuild, because in their back of everyone's mind is, how do we know they don't just revert back and vote in Eric Trump or the Tiger King in 4 years?
Hopefully, anyone left in this administration is still in prison.
