OT: American Politics

I like her, but I don't want anyone that couldn't beat Trump already.

I don’t feel one way or another about her. But the fact that she not only lost to Trump, but lost to him far more decisively than even Clinton did should obviously disqualify her from being a candidate again.

Not to mention that she was barely a blip in any Democratic presidential primary she ever took part in, and the only reason she ended up being the nominee against Trump is that Biden dragged his heels until it was too late in the game for the party to coalesce around anyone else.

For Harris to believe any differently would take a staggering amount of hubris and self-delusion.

Jesus lady. Fuck the hell right off.

Honestly, I hope she does. Last election was tough/complicated with the dems doing democrat things and instead of running people against Biden for the nomination, let him be candidate by default despite his obvious age issues, forced him out and ran with Kamala...who could have won and did have momentum until she stopped pumping the economic populist message she had early success with and let the "centrist" consultancy class advise her and Tim into a hilarious snatching of defeat from the jaws of victory.

I don't hope she runs because I think she'll win. I hope she runs because one of two things is going to happen: She will either lose to a better candidate, and that person overtaking her publicly will be good for their profile going into the general, or the dem establishment will put their thumb on the scales again (Hillary v Bernie) which imo will lead to a collapse of the centrist dem party when Kamala loses again and the DSA becomes the tea party/maga of the left. If America elects a corporate dem, nothing changes, and they lose in 2032 to whatever maga mouth breather wins the knife fight between Trump's death and promises to deport all of the frogs that the fluoride in the water turned trans or some shit.

Basically, I don't think the transition back from here is a smooth and linear one and will only come when America gets over this weirdo aversion they have to "socialism" every time a politician suggests doing something that might harm a single billionaire to help working people.

Until concrete proof emerges pointing otherwise, next election cycle is a fucked duck bc Dems have no cohesive plans to get things turned around.
