So maybe this is a dumb question and I know you probably don't have the votes to codify Roe because Manchin but why not force a vote and draw huge amounts of attention to it then? Biden ran on a promise to codify.

I don't know the answer to this but my understanding is that the States can each legislate on this how they wish and I don't know if there is federal legislative action that changes/fixes that.

So I guess my answer to your question is "I do not know"

There are also some anti-abortion Democrats. they don't have the votes even if they got Manchin.. Pretty sure Sinema and a few others wouldn't go along and it wouldn't get past the 60 vote mark anyway..
NOTE: I'd still "try" But democrats get crucified for FAILING Republicans get approval for stopping things..

and in My perfect world Abortion would be safe legal and RARE.
but alas we don't live in my perfect world and this world doesn't want to MAKE it rare (At least the side opposed to it.) since they don't want SEX Ed and don't want contraception.. So Women stop putting out for these assholes..
