OT: American Politics

Now this, this is potentially fucking dystopia.

All the data that a red state would need to convict for an out of state abortion is very easily accessible in 2022

I don't think cat 5 would do. The whole system is a cat 10 hurricane coming. Anti democratic, anti women, anti humanity altogether.

I've been seeing many people on social media warning women against using apps to track their cycle with this in mind.

And of course, many people commenting that this is an overreaction (how many times are we going to do this?).
How many times does the worst case scenario have to come true before people realize that yes, it IS that bad and it IS happening?

I've always disliked the "I have nothing to hide" argument. Especially, having been born in a dictatorship. You may be a perfect person but you have plenty to hide. That's the core of the idea of privacy afterall.

Data can be connected to each other to tell lots of stories about you, that you don't want out.

i think there's probably a lot of people with means that think they're going to be able to get to another state if they need to or that it won't affect them because they personally wouldn't get an abortion but these laws affect so many more aspects of women's health other than just abortion.

Data can also be manipulated to put you in the frame for something you didn't actually do. So you may not have something to hide but find out that you now have something to hide that isn't true yet you cannot disprove.

The goalposts will keep moving endlessly on that. Anything to shift the conversation away from the rights being stripped away.

The system held, what's the problem?
The fact that the wall held is great.. the fact that some people are trying to tear down all the supports and other people are content just wailing about what we should do about the buckled wall. w/o actually doing anything to fix it.. is VERY concerning.. especially since I expect it to take another hit soon.. ( Both side bad one is just Worse)

Just sarcasm but in your defense it’s hard to tell these days.

and you’re absolutely right, the system is being dismantled in front of everyone’s eyes.
