I feel like people still don't get that what has happened is that the majority of the right now believes that libs/dems are the most dangerous enemy of america and humanity at large, moreso than any other enemy foreign or domestic.

in the face of that, why would they care even a little bit about the personal foibles of their local gop candidate?

also, asking most voters to switch affiliations is like asking a Leaf fan to became a Hab fan because Martin St Louis seems like a fun coach.

most folks are irrational — it’s what make sports rivalries fun but it makes politics a gong show
 
IMO this is what the smart money should be thinking right now

- Twitter stock probably craters immediately after the deal finishes, the biggest reason it's above 35-42 is that the deal is expected to close and the arbitrage buyers are willing to gamble on it happening. Buying in at 54 is accepting that you're underwater on this investment within a month, and probably by 15-20 points.
- Most of the money that has gone into supporting this phony right wing "free speech" crusade has been sunk. There's no public desire to platform fascist bullshit, however it's packaged. Forcing twitter users to be confronted by this is more likely to lead to a twitter competitor than it is to lead to anything else. Twitter isn't special for any reason aside from it's current level of brand awareness and convenience. But ask myspace about facebook, snapchat about tiktok, or even Yahoo about Google if you want to know how quickly an established digital brand can be challenged and smoked.
