OT: American Politics

go back up in this thread. jcy had an absolute, foam-at-the-mouth, hissy fit MELTDOWN over this case. he went through about two cases of tampax arguing that zimmerman was absolutely guilty, that no evidence could prove otherwise, and that anyone who was arguing for a fair, dispassionate look at the evidence was human garbage.

When he's incarcerated for second degree murder what are you going to do without your idol of American gun violence to worship?

And there is no way he is going to be convicted of second degree murder. Its just another example of how electing prosecutors is a stupid idea. They can never resist going for the home run in these public cases. He'll be let off just like Casey Anthony.

Here we are, an op ed about how much of a raging clown show the GOP has become: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...-the-problem/2012/04/27/gIQAxCVUlT_story.html

Simply put, the party has been taken over by an extremist ideological insurgency that has destroyed any semblance of sanity. The media is complicite in claiming equivalency in assigning blame with the Democrats (who have their warts too, it must be said), but when one looks at history it is clear this equivalency is false. The GOP is an f@cking mess, full of batsh*t whackos.

But we already knew that...

Casey Anthony got off because she's a woman. Zimmerman won't have that card to play.

the argument could be made just as strongly that the democrats have been destroyed by bat$hit crazy, lunatic lefties out to impose socialism. yawn.

She got off because she was charged with first degree murder by an overzealous prosecutor who didn't have the evidence to back up that kind of charge.

These guys need to just enforce the law instead of trying to attach their names to a big time case to get reelected.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Well the kids can walk to a store and buy whatever shit they want. I think taking junk food out of the public school system is a pretty good move.

Taxing a gym membership is also fine....you don't need to go to a gym to stay fit.

But you just contradicted your point in the second portion of the sentence with your comment about the first part.

Kids are going to find a means to eat what they want at lunch. The only difference is now their money is going towards local retailers and food chains located close to the school rather than into the school's financial coffers. For many of these schools their cafeterias and vending machines are a means of raising some badly-needed funds to pay for athletic or drama programs. By removing these revenue-generators the schools are losing money, which only hurts the kids in the end by preventing them from having those opportunities.

As for your comment about not needing to go to a gym in order to stay fit: it helps significantly given the equipment available and the ability to work out a program with a personal fitness instructor or trainer. You can only jog so often outside before you plateau, and most people don't have a proper set of resistance equipment in their garage or basements. And buying weights in many cases is expensive in and of itself.

Nope. That's their point. Read the article, they provide an interesting historical timeline. Besides, you provide us a scary window into that world of paranoia and ridiculous ideological fanaticism. Or maybe you're just the leftist troll of the century.

finally. this is the very first time you have even held out the possibility that the guy needs a "fair" trial. i declare victory

No, I've said that multiple times throughout this thread, which you chose to ignore.

I agree, but that's why they went for the second degree murder charge rather than the first, which is significantly more difficult to prove and obviously would not apply in this instance.

Apparently this prosecutor is seriously good: she got a twelve year-old tried as an adult in a previous trial in the past year. I have faith that they have done their due diligence and believe a conviction is legitimately possible.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I'd rather see them tax junk tons in school. Then it works both ways - you want the chocolate bar? Either go across the street and get it for a dollar, or buy it for 1.50 in the caf. The problem with selling junk food in cafeterias is that usually it works out so that a salad will cost the same as a burger and fries, and which teen in their right mind picks the salad?

Well with that logic why not just sell the kids everything they need in the schools? Sell video games, movies, posters, ipods, sweatshirts, etc. Let's raise more funds for the schools!

I kid, but you get the point. Raising money through poor nutrition is a pretty miserable way to go about financing an arts program.

Gyms are for suckers....seriously....if you can't get a decent exercise regime outside of a gym, your just not being very imaginative....and you deserve to pay HST on it. :)

Yeah....a couple of guys want to sell a book that nobody would buy unless it's controversial....and you suck on it like it's was beer in a baby bottle.

This is REAL bat shit crazy infestation of the Democratic party......and the obami regime.....but we already knew that.

Enjoy.....

Then get the schools to stop charging an arm and a leg for healthy food options. I remember it cost $5.75 for a chicken caesar pita wrap at the Pita Pit cart they had in the cafeteria when I was in high school.

Charging prices like that drives kids to the $2.50 burgers and fries.
