OT: American Politics

heh.

literally every single thing you said there is laughably wrong. you live in bizarro world.

- Obama has not only killed the #1 terrorist, but killed more terrorists than any president ever has
- Obama has put more pressure on China than any president ever has
- Obama has implemented the strongest, most universal, and most successful sanctions against Iran there ever has been
- Obama's unbelievable success in influencing the uprisings in Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia was not only wildly successful, but shows just how embarassingly idiotic and wasteful the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were.
- all your comments about "relations" with Russia, Pakistan, Israel, and Canada are utter bullshit, and his ability to co-ordinate unprecedented international agreement on the Libya intervention and the Iran sanctions (including those countries you say hate him) is truly impressive.

And now, all because of one single day of coordinated terrorist attacks, the right is desperately trying to paint a world running amok. It's laughable.

Well, he also failed to continue pouring money into a flawed technological platform that helped people in Poland sleep a little sounder at night.

What do I need polls for? My neighbours and friends of the same sub culture, socio economic background, and geographic location all agree with me to my face. Clearly I have my finger on the pulse of everywhere when I'm armed with this information...clearly.

I read 20 pages of the debate talk but it is really only this that gets my blood boiling.

My poli sci brain cannot ignore this.

Funny ...I'm listening to the Edmonton arena debate right now... and it just reminds me that I have not talked to a single person that thinks the City should not just help pay for the arena and bend over backwards for Katz....yet I know from polls I read in the Globe and Mail that some people are against the City putting a single dollar into it.

Thanks for this. I was about to put in the work, but you saved me the time of refuting the complete and utter nonsense this guy continually posts. Laughable, if it wasn't so sad.

Last night, moments after the Lybia section was done.....

...it was Romney that missed his opportunity......today, after getting his talking points from the GOP?

.....it's all Crowley's fault.

really? Come on with the spinning already. Romney did drop the ball but Crowley did **** things up too. The presidents statements are up for debate, not judged by a reporter. Romney should have been more forceful but he screwed the pooch.

heh @ "spin"

....in the moments after the Libya question, this is all you had to say...

Romneys one glimmer of attack and he ****s it up. Classic.

If Romney can't hit him on a softball issue like Libya then Monday's going to be another mess for him.

Not a peep about Crowley in the moments during or immediately after the exchange.....yet post debate once talking heads started bringing it up, and blaming her, your focus changed to it being her fault.

Given your history of saying everything that comes to your mind....you'd think such a obvious mistake, would have been the first thing you typed about after it happened. Instead your focus was (accurately) on how Romney had f*cked it up.

Russian relations are bad because Putin is basically running the country like a mobster. He has been doing this ever since he got into power in 1999. I won't speculate who was president during much of that time, but I will say that there is only a certain amount any U.S. president can do, it's not their job to run the Russian government.

Remember the big drop in the unemployment rate that caused a certain former executive to get a little, uh, cranky?

Now, Gallup is seeing an even bigger drop. The polling group’s seasonally adjusted October mid-month unemployment rate is 7.7%, compared to the 7.8% reading from the government in September.

The Gallup survey asks 30,000 adults, or half the level of the Labor Department’s, and then adds the government’s seasonal adjustment model from last October. The Gallup measure is at the lowest level since January 2010.

The improved labor market has been a factor in improved consumer confidence readings, and of course, President Barack Obama’s re-election prospects, which on Intrade stood at 65%.

The idea that a country that spends so much more on their military than anyone else can have cordial relations with every other nation is pure fantasy. It's never happened and never will.

He did **** up, absolutely. I even said it in the post you quoted but to say Crowley didn't overstep is wrong. I also initially missed crowleys statements as I was listening from the shitter.

Remember I also rewatched the debate a second time. You defend Obama because you like him, I will slam him because I don't.

this should settle all the arguments

You should watch it a 3rd time..this time backwards and you'll hear Obama say "I am Satan. Vote for Johnson"

http://economy.money.cnn.com/2012/10/17/misery-index-obama-will-win-the-election/

Are Americans feeling more miserable than they were four years ago? According to the so-called "misery index," they're not -- a fact that boosts President Obama's chances of winning re-election.

The misery index combines the unemployment rate and the annual inflation rate and has accurately predicted the outcome of nine of the last 12 presidential elections, according to economists at Deutsche Bank.

When it rises, it's considered a sign of a weaker economy and a bad omen for the incumbent president and his political party. When it falls, the outcome has been the opposite, with the incumbent or his party winning re-election.

(In the three cases when the index did not accurately predict the election, it was essentially flat, changing less than one percentage point over a four year period.)

Economist Arthur Okun invented the misery index in the early 1970s, and the indicator became famous when Jimmy Carter used it to criticize incumbent Gerald Ford in the 1976 election. Inflation was soaring during that time, and unemployment rose along with it.

Unfortunately for Carter, that trend continued throughout his own presidency, and four years later, challenger Ronald Reagan used the misery index to defeat him in the 1980 election.

"When he was a candidate in 1976, President Carter invented a thing he called the misery index," Reagan said in a debate a week before the election. "He added the rate of unemployment and the rate of inflation, and it came, at that time, to 12.5% under President Ford. He said that no man with that size misery index has a right to seek reelection to the Presidency. Today, by his own decision, the misery index is in excess of 20%, and I think this must suggest something."

Where does the misery index stand now? As of the third quarter, it was 9.8%, down from 11.3% four years ago.

This China-bashing, by both sides, is also ridiculous. As if either party can/will really do anything about the "problem." The U.S. has been de-industrializing for the last 35 yrs.
