OT: American Politics

They've found job that is less "hassle", or they've found a customer willing to pay in cash is my guess, and they only work enough to provide the lifestyle they are looking for.
But I mean they just disappear. With my A/C issues, one guy came out twice, drew up an estimate, I said okay, let's do it. And then despite half a dozen calls and texts, he vanished. Never asked for or got paid for the two visits, and didn't care to get paid on his own quote. Still totally puzzled by it, but I've seen it in less egregious forms too - a lot - in the last couple of years.

Yup. Or maybe it’s too small fish for them to even bother. It really depends on how they want to use their time.

Would be on brand for our timeline

I mean, I’m not wishing for it to happen or anything, but any of Biden, Pelosi or Schumer kicking the bucket soonish might not be the worst thing.

Otherwise I definitely fear that Biden will run again in 2024, and in general that they’ll all try to hold on to their positions in the Dem party and not turn it over to younger generations until power is pried from their cold, dead, bony hands (or until the GQP wins/coups and institutes one-party rule).

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?

Current hometown excluded

Probably east coast of Spain, somewhere between Alicante and Barca.

A nice balance of weather, 1st world amenities, proximity to travel destinations (with high speed rail) and language. Gold coast in Australia is intriguing, but its so fucking far from everything. 8-12 hour flights to go anywhere in Asia.

Everywhere else I would consider either has shit weather for part of the year or high crime/instability, etc.

Due to family stuff though, I think the north American ideal would be to split time between one of the top Canadian places to live (GTA, Vancouver, Montreal) for the summer and one of the best mexican/central American/carib locations in the winter (vallarta, Merida, Panama city, Costa Rica, a Caribbean Island if thats you're flavour...Turks, Bahamas, etc)

You just want to be closer to Ibiza 😉

I'm at a cross roads that I never expected to be at. I can pick up and go anywhere. Makes it really really tough to decide. I feel like if I don't go now I never will and this area is nothing like it used to be, so built up and full of the "oh do fuck off" vibe for me.

So my thinking is a condo here, country house in VT or NH (close enough for regular jaunts to Montreal and NYC) with summers in Greece again.

My youngest has decided she will home school so where that home is in any particular month is no issue.

Also considering Mexico over Florida for the winter hideout
