This is why most countries aren't bothering. Exports are important to most countries economies, but American exports tend to make up a small percentage of everyone elses aside from ours and Mexico's total exports. Why would you let a bunch of nutters unlikely to be around in a few years bend you over in an unfavourable trade deal just for the sake of 8-12% of your export economy? The only way to win stupid games is to not play them.

The other things that kind of goes undiscussed regarding exports to the US is that it's often American MNC's doing the exporting and are in your country for cheap manufacturing costs. MNC's that don't keep the profits earned in your country anyway. The system has been built by American companies for the benefit of American companies. The host nations appear to be more than willing to let a group of idiots let it burn to the ground because they don't understand that it already benefits them more than the host nation.

....and then to have that deal that you worked so hard on to make, that benefits the other party more than you, not actually mean anything if one dude just feels like it for any reason at all? Hard pass. Way better to put that time and effort into building better trade relations with other markets.
