I politely disagree. You don't open the door to unrepented proto fascists because they got a bit shy at the finish line. The idea here is to build an ideological home for people who believe in basic core shit like human rights, empathy, etc. Not to stretch in the direction of the stragglers and cast aways from the fascist movement.

Democrats lose largely because they don't actually stand for anything. Stand for something and let people migrate towards that. I'm entirely good if this guy comes out disavowing all of the horseshit he stood for a week ago. He's for medicare for all, human rights for all, living wages, etc, etc. But coming out and saying "I've changed my mind on nothing but Republicans make me feel icky now, so I'm one of you guys now!" Fuck that.

You want to believe in the good shit? Welcome home. You want to not believe in the good shit, but you're not quite fascist enough to stay with them. Fuck you, be homeless.
 
I've long forgotten exactly how Eugene, OR sneaked onto my radar; prob'ly through the arts somehow. In any event, its scruffy little weekly newspapers have a spot in my heart. Wednesday edition sets and reports good examples. 😊
