OT: American Politics

Core inflation 3.1 in July, so we are seeing the tariffs starting to creep into the data.

Fed is in a bind now. CPI is above target band (1.0 to 3.0), so that certainly doesn’t presage a rate cut. But employment numbers are fugly, which normally prompts a discussion for a cut.

So, Dotard has, out of thin air, created a paradoxical stagflation dynamic for policy makers. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. August #s to be released in September will be massive, if they aren’t tainted…

Anyway, while it’s still possible to look at numbers, add the impact of tariffs to that CBO report. Massive reverse Robin Hood. Huge.
