OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

As with reservist models, employers would be required to release employees for annual training and refreshers. They must also accept responsibilities in our society.

Essential workers (e.g. utilities, personal/child care workers) could be exempt, but a huge swath of people would be in the reservist pool (e.g. retail). They could be rotated through to prevent burnout.

Not sure if there is an appropriate age cohort.
This makes sense and is probably something the federal government should start working on now since it's not clear if or when we will ever be out of this pandemic.

As for health care workers, saints that most of them are, many of them exhausted their generosity and personal well being in waves 1-4. How could anyone, in good conscience, come out of retirement AGAIN, or cut short stress leave, or go back into the profession after seeing so many of their colleagues suffer (even die in many cases) and after being subject to vitriol and personal attacks from the antivaxx population? And if their health and well-being isn't at the forefront of whatever government measures come next, I expect many more will quit. Can't blame them either.

The South African data just looks too similar to me as the UK data during their delta wave. It just seems like prior immunity is defanging the fuck out of the virus. Which is a great thing individually. Vaccines and prior infection help!

If the results are replicated elsewhere then yeah it's something different.

AB have promised to provide rapid tests today but failed to leave out the finer details of only providing them to major city pharmacies.
As of now it appears Calgary, Edmonton Lethbridge and Fort Mac are the only places receiving them

Sorry rural Berta you're on you're own

Problem is Ontario did not replicate UKs hospitalization to case ratio during the delta wave. We don't have their level of hybrid immunity and vax uptake for the olds. We'll soon have the hybrid immunity bit tho. Hopefully we weather the storm.

Covid centrist that reacts to things how I see them!!! Currently the Danish data does NOT look good but there is a smaller sample size with no age adjusted breakdown so I choose to veer more toward SA right now!!!
I wish I shared your positivity but I remain skeptical pending updated European data...

I'm positive that reinfections and vaccines make this thing more mild. Very skeptical and even doubtful it's much more mild. That's not typically how viruses work outside of a few lucky scenarios throughout history.

Denmark is slightly ahead but they're world leaders as far as data is concerned. UK too. We don't have the real-time data that they provide!

I mean kinda seems like rural Berta is the place they would least likely to be used? not that I condone cutting them off...

so, tonight is our office holiday gathering, which will be my highest risk activity from now until NYE. hopefully the cron has not already infected our ranks.

(and for clarity, I fully recognize the most responsible thing to do would be to cancel it)

Our was yesterday. I bailed on it, my wife is still doing some chemo every three weeks and she can't get a positive test or it throws off her whole treatment schedule.
