I don't agree. Price will sign based on contract.
Rogers has the money. They're the richest ownership in MLB. They have to decide if they want to invest over 200 million in a pitcher.
Let's face it, those 200 million contracts rarely work for pitchers.
The fact is, Texas has Price's number and Stroman is pitching better. Stro is a stud.

Dickey will be more rested than Price and Dickey won't pitch the first few games of the potential ALCS. They'll need Price for game 1. They only use him for game 5 imo if they get really desperate,.
Plus, Loup is available. So they have a lefty in the bullpen which they did not yesterday (So they used Price).
You are talking about a TOP 5 pitcher consistently in the majors for 6 years and in the cy young race this year. Stroman is good, but Price has been better for longer. You can argue all you want about anything, if Stroman has a bad game then everyone will be calling for Gibbins' to be fired.

But how about how they're pitching right now? You have to forget about past achievements sometimes.
Price does not pitch well against the Rangers. Even in relief yesterday, he did not look that good.
Stroman was terrific last year as well. This is a guy that will be a legit #1 pitcher for a long time.

Because you don't use DAVID PRICE as a reliever. I don't care what he did in 3ip, he was misused and that proves my point exactly. Stroman might be a legit #1 some day, but we are talking about DAVID PRICE. Have you seen his stats the past 6 years???? He's a #1 on almost every team. Like I said, if this gamble doesn't work it will be ALL on Gibbins for that dumb strategic decision.
Notice how Burton disappeared Thurs and Fri but has returned now?

Several teams will have the money to sign him, not just Rogers. He will remember this slight when all is said and done. He is as good as out the door.

Yup. Very good chance it happens.
The Red Sox are the team I worry about more than the Yankees. (In terms of being a true contender next season).
Rogers has most likely decided in private if they'll make a competitive offer or not.

true, they only won the division because the Giants had massive injuries all season long.
Of course, if Kershaw can finally stop choking tonight and the Cuban Puig does something, you could end up in the next round.
