Even if they had choked in '94, with a playoff appearance maybe they have less of an excuse to dump their best players, and they keep a Larry Walker and/or Ken Hill and they win sometime later in the decade.

They could have just not panicked and ran it back with all or nearly all of the 94 roster in 95 and would have made the playoffs. But the minority owners wanted zero risk.

No it isn't. He gambled on baseball and brought the game into disrepute. He spent his entire adult life walking into MLB clubhouses, all of which have a sign posted on the door, reminding everyone who enters what the penalty is for gambling. He ignored it. I have no sympathy for him. He turned a great career into shit, just like Barry Bonds did, and neither of them should ever get into the Hall.
