OT: Movies/TV Shows

And don't forget 1986's "Manhunter", which was remade into the 2002 film "Red Dragon". Brian Cox played Hannibal Lecter (actually billed as "Dr. Lecktor" - I read the book when it first came out and I can't recall how it was spelled by author Thomas Harris) Mann's adaptation has a very "Miami Vice-ish" vibe to it.
I liked it a lot. That said, I also thought Red Dragon was very good. Mann rocks. Heat is an all-time classic and he has a sequel coming out as a novel soon.

I went to the premiere a couple weeks ago where they showed the first couple episodes…and fell asleep in the middle. Liotta is excellent in it, but the whole thing felt so contrived. Like this is fucking Nic Cage they need to go to the Rock. My producer client hated it and wanted to walk out. Maybe the later episodes got better?

Oh, and the producer who introduced it before they played it told a funny story about how Liotta kept telling him it’s a stupid fucking title and he needs to change it before releasing it.

the show is real gud --especially if you ever wondered how stressful running a restaurant could be

It is contrived for sure. I agree. I generally find if the acting, writing, direction is strong I'm able to look past it. Some of my fav films were stories I had seen before. Earlier I mentioned Heat in regards to Michael Mann's "Thief" because of Caan's passing, By 1995 the "Aging thief looking for 1 last score" was done so many times. But everything was so top notch no one cared.

I don't get the fuss over O'Russell's films at all. American Hustle had such a fantastic trailer and I thought it was just bad and overrated. I Heart Huckabees..I won't even go into how much I hated that film. 3 Kings is still my fav of his. I would say he should do more films with Clooney, but one of them might end up dead.

Agreed. Silver Linings Playbook was good though.

It was no Guardians of the Galaxy, that’s for sure.

thing is, you probably didn't totally get GotG because you refused to watch all the MCU films in chronological order, while paying close attention to the credit sequences
