OT: Movies/TV Shows

Before the final episode of Andor s.1 i just wanted to get one prediction in. I'm definitely wrong but if I'm right it's a big time spoiler so don't look at it.

He's not real. He's a Luthen alt.
That show isn't over yet?

John Candy was robbed of an Oscar nomination. He was brilliant.
I cringe at most comedies that try to merge comedy with sentimentality (The Sandler movies did that often with horrible results). PTA did it perfectly.
If it was just a comedy it would be a throwaway. Candy gave the film its humanity, its heart. That last scene on the el when Neil has those flashbacks and finally realizes that Del isn't going home but is essentially a vagabond without one, and then when he goes back to the station and finds him there...I don't care how many times you see it, it gets to you every time.

I was just reading some predictions of oscar nominations...what the fuck has happened to movies? And Shortround is getting an Oscar nomination and could win.

I recall another anecdote where during the filming of "Only the Lonely" he gave up his dressing room trailer to co-star Maureen O'Hara. O'Hara's dressing room was a tiny space in one of the trailers subdivided into 4 or 6 small rooms. Candy recognized the fact that O'Hara had been an A-list Hollywood star in the 40's and 50's and he insisted that she be treated like one. He didn't ask for another trailer; he was happy to swap dressing rooms with her. No matter how big and famous he got, Candy never behaved like he was anyone special. He retained his humility in a business where one is constantly pampered and told how great they are and never treated anyone like they were lesser people or not deserving of his attention.
