OT: Movies/TV Shows

I still think about it often….remarkable performance from the lead, and one of the more original examinations of how we adjudicate justice.

I also saw it as a treatise on storytelling — how it sways us over facts

rewatched ‘Phantom Thread’ recently…..gets better with every viewing. Underrated masterpiece from PTA, relative to his other work.

I'd never heard of it until about ten minutes ago when I opened this thread.

I looked it up and read the synopsis, nothing there made me want to see it.

What can you tell me to convince me to see it? I like giving things a chance but this doesn't reach out and grab me at all.

I can guarantee it's faaaaar better than that hockey movie you watched a while back.

I think it’s mainly for fans of slower paced character studies, where much of what’s said is said via the acting versus through dialogue…I think if you enjoy movies like ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, ‘Drive my Car’, ‘Chungking Express,’ ‘Paterson’, ‘Punch Drunk Love’, ‘First Reformed’ or ‘A Serious Man’…..it’s liable to be something you’ll enjoy.

If you’re not a fan of films that aren’t particularly driven by plot, it might feel a bit plodding/unsatisfying possibly.

It’s very meticulous, with a great score and amazing visual/audio ASMR….Daniel Day Lewis & Vicky Kriepps play off one another perfectly too. (Plus it’s maybe DDL final film, so that’s probably reason enough to see it)

That's a lot of words to say "I think you're too dumb to get it."

If you really appreciate the art of film making it might be for you. The story is not interesting though.

Ya. Basically this.

Thanks.

I'll take a look at it soon, never know, might find it worthwhile.

Walton Goggins is on the cusp of an Emmy/Oscar win for something, he's that good in anything he does, and Boyd Crowder is probably a top 10 supporting character ever for me. Im told he's very good in The Shield as well, but i doubt i ever end up watching that.

Im 3 episodes in, and if Fallout catches on with people, this could be it. He's absolutely fantastic
