I've never watched any doctor/hospital show. I always found the subject matter boring.

What's so good about this one that it is so acclaimed? Seems like ER vibes with all the hype.

Never had any interest in watching any hospital shows... ever. Never watched an episode of any of them. The wife wanted to watch this cause it's set in Pittsburgh, and we live here so I was like, "fine."

a. The fact that it's set in Pittsburgh is meaningless since it takes place entirely inside the hospital.

2. It's fucking amazing. It plays out in real time, with each episode being an hour and the season covers one shift on one day. The writing is perfection. They do an incredible job of building tension without forcing anything, ever. Just enough comic relief to make it feel like a real workplace but never overdone where you feel like it would be inappropriate given the high stakes.

I really recommend you give it an episode and see if you don't get hooked.
