OT: NBA Playoffs - Around the League

In comparison with Jordan, no he hasn't been. If we're expanding the conversation to "who's been ****ed out of a single MVP", we're required to expand the conversation significantly, to the point that crying about Lebron being "short changed" becomes meaningless because there's no many others who have been hooped out of a single MVP award due to shitty voting. Jordan though, people were dying to give the award to anyone but Jordan on a number of occasions, despite Mike being the runaway best player in the league every year for a decade.

The two simply don't belong in the same discussion on this.

heh

....and you had the nerve to call into question my reading comprehension....too drôle.

Players needing new contracts on the Heat are:

Chalmers
Battier (already said he's retiring)
Allen
Douglas
Jones
Lewis
Beasley

Do you retain any of them? I think outside of Chalmers they should all be let go.

Signed for next season (including player option guys)

James
Bosh
Wade
Haslem
Andersen
Cole

Mike Miller still on the books but amnestied. Hope someone picks him up to offset a chunk of that cap hit.

With the cap rising to $63.2M ($77M luxury ceiling) the Heat only have about $7M left under the Luxury Threshhold. Their current cap hit should all players opt in is $69,446,678 (minus whatever amnesty savings Miller gets them when he signs). Bosh set to make $20,590,000 and Wade set to make $20,048,000 are killing the Heat IMO. There are players that can give comparable production for less than that.

The argument can be made that if the Spurs can bounce back from disappointment, so can the Heat. I just really feel Bosh is overpaid greatly and Wade will continue to see decline. Having to sit Wade for 1/4 of the season so that he's "fresh" and seeing him turn tits up in the finals makes me worry.

Pie in the sky scenario would see Melo in the lineup.

For PG I'd like to replace Chalmers with Isaiah Thomas or maybe Lowry :wink. I doubt Toronto doesn't resign him though.

SG: Lance Stephenson replacing Ray Allen. Yes please. :)

Any shot at getting Zach Randolph in over Bosh? Yeah, none.

Love to replace Andersen with Greg Monroe or Gortat. Unfortunately Andersen is dirt cheap and signed for another year.

So one of two scenarios will happen IMO:

1) The Heat keep rolling with the big three, resign Chalmers and find a replacement for Allen.

2) LeBron opts out. If he does I'd expect Bosh to opt out as well. I do not expect Wade to opt out at all. All of a sudden $41 million is available. Shopping spree would probably include some combination of Melo, Monroe, Randolph, Gasol, Stephenson, Thomas, Lowry, Bledsoe. Riley will spend the money if LeBron and Bosh walk, that's for sure.

Incidentally, what's your take on Rudy Gay? Worth it or no?

I'd say Miami had a better overall supporting cast on paper, especially over the Bulls first three-peat.

Wade
Bosh
Allen

>

Pippen
Grant
Armstrong

They just played like shit and the Spurs Popoviched them.

Wade isn't the same player he was. He's still good but definitely on the decline. I never liked Bosh. Ever.

This is what I've been telling you for a few months now man. Shit is in place for Bron to walk, with both Wade & Bosh being pretty difficult to move (and yeah, not a chance either is opting out unless Riley pulls the rumoured Carmelo rabbit out of his hat)

I think it is a two fer. If LeBron walks so does Bosh.

Wade won't opt out. His family likes it here (per reports in the paper).

Are teams allowed renegotiating contracts mid-term or are they locked in like the NHL?

The funny thing is how all those guys, but specifically Jordan and Lebron, were short changed when it came to regular season MVP's.

Only so many ways to comprehend this. But you sure seem to believe, based on this statement that Jordan & Lebron stand alone among that list when it comes to getting ****ed out of MVP's.

Would appear that my comprehension is fine son, you may want to go back to edit this so that you can expand and tell us what you "really" meant by it though.

In the new financial environment, Bosh isn't opting out of shit. He'd be looking at a 9 million dollar a year haircut.

You're slowly turning into msun, where you create false debates just to argue them....while never being able to admit to making a mistake, no matter how painfully obvious it was... It's become incredibly old and tired.

I said Lebron and MJ should both have more MVP's....they should. Period. We disagree whether Lebron got screwed out of 1 or 2. No more, no less.

Habsy is becoming a die-hard fan in a state where die-easy is the norm.

No, Habsy is trying to educate himself more. I realize that most Heat fans are also Dolphin, Panther and Marlins fans so the bandwagon moniker fits.

Because of all there is to do in South Florida, fans just spend their money on other activities when their teams suck. Nature of the beast down here.

*yawn*

Keep spinning man, keep spinning.

Normally though I stick through the whole games because I love seeing South Florida teams lose. It's awesome. Except the Heat of course.

The best thing about the Heat losing, is how incredibly interesting it makes their offseason......seeing what Lebron and the mad genius that is Pat Riley, will do, should make for some incredible theatre.

Even if they keep the big 3 together and simply tinker with the secondary pieces.....the Heat are a team who is exponentially more interesting when they're chasing the title, than they are as defending champions.

One thing that I find particularly interesting is that this experiment was originally born out of Lebron & Wade's friendship and genuine admiration for one another, and yet that same friendship might be Lebron's biggest obstacle to future titles if Wade refuses to take a paycut (which would ostencibly force Lebron's hand to leave, or limit their potential for future success).....

Then the question becomes, would Lebron's thirst for greatness overpower his loyalty to Wade? Or will Wade have the self-awareness and recognition of his place in the current pecking order, to take a pay cut and help the Heat by freeing up the money required to build their depth?

Bosh already made it known a while back that he's willing to take a pay cut for their long term success, and there have been rumblings all three have discussed accepting just $14 mill per year to free up cash to help them build a stronger team.....if all three opt out, and free up cash for management, they could do some very interesting things, with or without Carmelo.

To me that's the most likely scenario...because both Bosh & Wade are as aware as anyone, that their best chance at improving/cementing their legacies, is through continuing their partnership with Lebron and chasing more titles....so for my money, they'll all opt-out, and set up their new deals to help them finish what they started.

If Bosh & Wade opt IN tho?...they'd basically be sabotaging things and Lebron is probably a goner. They both need to take a cut, to keep Lebron in town, imo..
