OT: Soccer thread

Toronto, first Canadian team in MLS, last Canadian team to make the playoffs and the last Canadian team to make the conference semi-finals. The first shall be last.

The real league across the pond has a whole slate of great matches tomorrow morning. Worth heading down to the pub for breakfast to enjoy before work.

World cup qualifying round 4 kicks off this friday.

Canada is in a group with Meixco, Honduras and El Salvador.

Opening matches are at Home vs Honduras (in Vancouver) 10pm ET shown on TSN. Then away in El Salvador on tuesday not exactly sure on the time or if TSN has been able to secure any TV rights for it yet.

We are catching both of these teams at good times and Honduras are missing a few key players and El Salvador players are on strike meaning we will be facing a B squad made up of mostly domestic players.

The only notable absences for Canada are: Henry (injury), Cavillini (injury) and Osorio (left off team).

Taking advantage of these early fixtures is very important as the next 2 game series will be a home and away with mexico where even getting 1 pt would be successful.

If your on the west coast go to the game

I see a 0-0 draw unfortunately.

Vs Mexico: 0 pts
Vs HON: 4 pts
Vs ELSD: 4 pts

8 pts enough to go through?

If we get a result in Honduras we would go through. Honduras is a place that will haunt CMNT supporters for decades though. I could see us getting a draw at home vs Mexico before getting a result in Honduras.

With how weakened their squad is right now I would hope they go for it on Tuesday away. Would set up a very important match next September likely back at BMO

Honduras away gives me the cold sweats, but their team is worse and our team should be better this time around. Leaving Osorio off is criminal, however we really could do with 6pts by Wednesday.
