OT: Soccer thread

I know it's early but I wish our hockey teams were as good as our soccer teams.

Also NYRB? Didn't see them struggling out of the gate.

Very true, although I almost feel like yesterday was a drop of 2pts rather than a gain of 1 with that handball goal counting.

Redbulls are missing their starting CB pairing from last season (Miazga has gone to Chelsea and perrinelle is injured for another couple weeks).

Also I Fan590 has a show called "TFC Pitchside" - I was interviewed as part of a segment they are doing on the supporters groups.

Ibrahimovic's contract expires at the end of the season and he also said he would stay "if they replace the Eiffel Tower with a statue of me."

"For the moment, I will not be at PSG next season. I still have a month and a half left here.

"If they replace the Eiffel Tower with a statue of me, then I will stay. I promise."

LOL. Go all in on this guy. I hear he might be MLS bound. Talk of Miami? Get him in a TFC kit. Thats a name that would sell tickets i think. Atleast for a little while regardless of results. Though its looking like it'll be a big year for the reds.

If you had asked me a year ago I would have said it's likely Zlatan comes to mls after his contract but if he is looking for money China will offer more.

With united being interested as well it will make his next move very interesting.

CMNT roster for world cup qualifying vs Mexico will be released today along with the 2016 kit.

My expectations:
Borjan, Stamatopolous
Edgar, Jakovic, De Jong, Ledgerwood, Ouimette, Vitoria,
Hutchinson, Johnson, Hoilett, Arfield, De Guzman, Piette, Akindele
Larin, Haber

Leaving a few slots open for players like: Henry, Froese, Aird, Trafford, Osorio, Cavillini, Jackson, Roberts, Crepeau etc

we won't win so who cares?

Maybe someone who spends the time to ask the question of "who cares"?

The people who care would be people who both like canada as well as soccer.

Yeah, seriously. No idea why people feel the need to hate on the Canadian National Team. Would be nice to have a mens national sports team we could be proud of aside from hockey (basketball soon!).

Yep and we all know the likeliest result from the 2 games vs mexico is 0 pts but that still leaves us in a position to make the Hex. With the recent commitments of guys like Hoilett and Arfield as well as Larin emerging as a scoring machine at his age we may not have as bleak of a future as some would like people to believe.

I'd leave Osorio off, he's brutal for TFC so far and a snub might fire him up.

Floro wants him to work on his defensive game and i don't think he will be called this round because of that. Oso is more of an attacking mid than anything else and him being put on the left to work with lovitz or as the LW just isn't a good position for him. Hopefully Jozy is back this week and seba moves over to the left because him and oso had some magic going last year.

I only have one question....how in the **** does a player make our national team, but not play for any professional club team?
