OT: Soccer thread

In these tournies it's all about your path, especially with single game eliminations. In 2006 Italy faced two elite teams all tourny: Germany (who they best handily) and France (who they tied and won in pks). Great team but it's all made a lot easier statistically when your path has little resistance!

I get that....but what’s wrong with our current path compared to the alt

edit: nv, I see the Wales scenario

Belgium and France are probably the two best teams in the tourny. And if Portugal upsets Belgium, they're good too. I fear no one on the other side.

I fear France more. But I think Belgium finally came into their own. Real good team. I don't think anyone on the other side is anywhere near as good.

England looks thoroughly mediocre but they have an opportunity to not be the leafs for once. On paper they're probably the best on that side. But they're obviously going to leafs it up.

Tbh france hasnt been impressive. And even belgium hasnt looked all together.

But still, its a fuxking hard run through likely the top-3 (other) teams in europe if italy wants to win.

Ronaldo ties the most international goal scored, 109, of Ali Daei.
The message of legendary Ali Daei:

Ali Daei has given Iranians, and Iranian-canadians like me so many moments of pride over the years. When he was at his peak, it wasn't trendy to have Asian players in euro leagues. Otherwise, he would have really shined. No, not Ronaldo shine, but shine nonetheless. I am happy he got to play in the Bundesliga for a few years and wear the Bayern jersey for a season (scored 6 goals for them). Better yet be was/is a class act.

I'm happy to see his name in the news and his record was to fall at some point anyways. Happy to see it about to be broken by Ronaldo. A man who has every excuse to be a jerk but is a class act himself.

Isnt ronaldo either a convicted or accused rapist?

France only ever does as much as it has to in order to advance. Some teams want to win every game and that is the right attitude but France never runs the table in qualifying, but since 1994 always get in. Italy has looked the best but their competition has not been all that great.
