OT: Soccer thread

It’s fun because it’s so simple relative to all our fantasy sports league….100m cap, pick 11 starters 4 backups….can make a transfer per week for free, otherwise -4 points for the week per transfer…but you can also save transfers and stockpile some.

Your captain gets you double points for the week, vice captain becomes your captain if for some reason your captain sits……you can change both every game week.

Also players values go up and down based on how much they are transferred in (bought) or transferred out (sold)…..so you can increase your season long cap space by making great signings that go up in value and you later sell.

So there’s a fun little stock market element to it almost…

Any questions, fire away….main thing is your starting 11 for week one….oh and under “pick team” you can change your formations….

3-5 defenders
3-5 midfielders
Or
1-3 forwards each week.

so you can have a 3-5-2, a 3-4-3, 5-4-1 etc.

Oh, and while our league is head to head each week….your total points scored goes towards the world/country table etc, so you’re automatically entered into all that for dope prizes.

They also run a Cup tournament mid season, that runs along side your regular game week automatically, which mimics a FA Cup….which is pretty cool. But you don’t need to do anything other than set your 11 starting players each week, and the team is automatically set across all competitions.

I just love the starry-eyed enthusiasm of Spurs supporters in August.

….and I’ve been playing it conservative.

We have two of the best CB’s in the league in Romero and Van de ven, a top 5 keeper in Vicario, thee single best LB in Udogie, a top RB in Porro who might only be behind Trent in offensive talent.

Maddison, Son, Solanke, and Johnson (Kulusevski, Timo Werner, Richarlison) powering the offense up front, with Odobert coming in to provide us the dribbly take-on artist winger we’ve needed to stretch opposition defenses width, when they sit back…

Bissouma & Sarr securing things in the middle with Bissouma being one of the best defensive midfielders in the game when he’s on…

Still plenty of question marks tho…..how have other managers adapted/prepared for Angeball…how healthy can the back four be (averaged only a goal a game against when all four played)…..has Maddison bounced back to full health post injury….will Solanke fit as well in practice as he does on paper for Ange’s system.

We’re still lacking the kind of depth required to make it through a full Prem season and challenge for top spot & cups etc….but I think a strong challenge for the Europa League title, and a top 4 finish are well within our potential.

….and if we stay completely healthy, we can battle with anyone.

I think I missed a deadline of some sort because I could have sworn I saved me team as a 3-4-3 with havertz captained.

Sorry to hear that, that’s a bummer……looking at your squad tho, reminds me to bring up that if someone in your starting lineup doesn’t play (Castagne) then the first person off the bench (White and his 6pts) comes in for them.

So the order of your bench matters…..except if you only had 3 defenders playing, than their swap has to be another defender. But if Havertz had been your first bench player, then he comes in.

Good shout on both of you for snagging Havertz…..wish I’d taken him over Watkins and used that extra £1m elsewhere.

£20m + £5m in add-on’s for Oliver Skipp, sold to Leicester. Amazing.

I’d have guessed we could get £15m tops. Great pickup for Leicester though, he’s a quality player in the right system. Like Winks last year, I think he”ll be a great acquisition for them.

Brennan starts over Deki….and Bentancur in for the suspended Bissouma.

Brennan & Solanke are going to connect in a ton of goals this season. Match made in heaven, those two.

Canada vs Panama in a friendly at BMO field Oct 15th.

Canada host the 2nd leg of nations league Nov 19th at BMO field as well.

Oct 15th tickets go on sale in the coming days (depending on your access)

FPL has some cool micro stats
so...not great?

Just watched the game highlights and by looking at the game stats, looks like Spurs should have taken 3 points?

We dominated early on, 10 shots to 1 at one point but just couldn’t capitalize….Solanke had a few headers & chances in the box that just didn’t go, but he looked great. (Led FPL in “threat” index..as the leagues most dangerous striker based on his positioning, chances & service.)

Porro scored a beauty, but then once Vardy scored we couldn’t get back on track & get another go ahead.

Also Bentancur got knocked out cold and was out for a couple minutes, kinda sucked the life out of the team. He was up and moving later, but I think he’s got some post-concussion troubles coming. Suspect he’ll be out quite a while.

Bergvall & Archie Gray both got 20+ mins of game time…..which is crazy for 18 & 19 year old. Especially when we got Bergvall for just €10m.
