OT: Tennis anyone?

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

Raonic just not as talented as Dimitrov... Can't rely just on a big serve and fh to win. The likes of Roddick has a lot of help from US Open organisors to win his lone slam :(

Milos just makes too many unforced errors. His hands are not great either...
Lot's Go Genie!!!

I like Raonic ... doing well for a Canadian but too much hype placed on him.

Same with Bouchard (especially because of her looks) at the moment. I'll be interested to see just how far she goes in this tournament! But it's nice to have some Canadian talent breaking through! :thumbsup(22):

Bouchard is cute no doubt but for 19 she has a pretty solid game.

Raonic played awful. I swear he had the flu. His serve took awhile to get going. He couldn't return Dimitrov's serve too well. His play at the net was the worst display I have seen by a pro tennis player in a long time. First he picked way too many bad times to go to the net and secondly he did nothing when he was there other than hit it right back to his opponent or into his own net.

If he played like he did in the first 2 rounds he would have won this match, which is why I just assumed he was sick or something.

Anyhow won't matter much as the top players would have smoked Milos if he had advanced. He has a ways to go.

If Bouchard wins tonight she then gets Serena so she'll probably be stopped in the quarter-finals. I think the real interest will be if she is able to push Williams, should she win tonight.

Of the three top singles players for Canada, Bouchard is the best bet to get to the top or near top. As I stated earlier she needs to increase the power in her serve and just get more experience playing the top players but at 19 she is in fine shape.

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

Wow... what a match for Eugenie Bouchard. She wins 6-7, 6-2, 6-0 and is off to the final 8... the quarter finals.

She had to play an Australian and in the packed center court of Rod Laver Arena. The first set was so close and it looked like Bouchard had some trouble with the wind and maybe a few nerves but she was probably the better player as the set neared the end even though she lost the tie-break. She was aggressive as usual in that set and that is where she lost a few points but you knew once she found the right depth to hit the ball on the lines she would be in command.

Now with Serena Williams out she'll play another good player... and babe... in Ana Ivanovic the #14 seed. Naturally Eugenie has a chance. She is now use to the big court with a big crowd who maybe more behind her since she won't be playing an Australian this time.

Eugenie also has a good eye... quite a few challenges she won.

Such a career ahead of this 19-yr old. It will be fun to follow.

Yeah, she has talent and composure. Look forward to the next match.

Interesting fact they pulled out during the Milos match. The average top 50 player is 27 years old.

Milos is 23.

And I was there to see it. JCF was gassed from the day before. But what help did Roddick get from the organizers? He should have lost to Nalbandian in the semis but DN choked, as per usual.

Favouritisme re: scheduling of matches... There was a reason JCF was gassed by the time he played Roddick....
