OT: The News Thread

i don’t think he means deleting posted so there is an equal amount of stupidity from both sides, just processes that don’t unfairly target and silence political ideologies. Which is good for lefties and righties really.

Processes such as what

there's only one thing you can do if you're going to regulate at all -- control the messages that appear on your platform. what else is there to do? and there's only one way to do that, which is delete the ones that don't conform.

political neutrality means not deleting messages based on political ideology.

the whole point is deleting less stuff.

I am not sure how big of a problem that actually is currently, but he’s definitely not saying he wants to censor Twitter more.

The whole idea of AI amplifying certain voices or positions to increase engagement is fucked to begin with.

Just let people follow who they want to follow and stay out of it. Trending stories and news should just be the trending stories and news, not only the stuff that you might look at for an extra 3 seconds because it confirms your own biases.

I don't need to be fed more NHL stories, I get enough from who I choose to follow. Tell me what the top stories around the world are so I might learn something from twitter. Thats how I would spend more time on it.

That's not how the social media business model works. You're still looking at it as though the users are the customers. They aren't. The users are the product. The moneyed interests paying social media platforms to manipulate the users are the actual customers.

Its actually pretty funny. You see a lot of self proclaimed "centrists" say they identify more with the right now because of freedom and free speach.

Meanwhile freedom and free speech and central tenets of liberalism, and the right is literally banning books, certain topics of speech, and womens access to medical care all over the country.

But some multi billion dollar corporation taking traditionally authoritarian, law and order, right wing actions is perceived to be left wing.

Always have to remember that people in the upper stratosphere really have no idea what regular people do, think...how can they?

I highly doubt billionaires spend much time hanging out with anybody outside the club, and I'm guessing everybody else us kind of invisible.
