OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Tonight: -5
SAS: -18
Hornets: +5 (lowest of the starters by a lot)
Blazers: -1
Nets: -1 (only starter who was a minus, 2nd worst was +8)
Heat: -4
Cavs: +6 (only starters not + double digits)
Thunder: -10 (worst on team by a lot)
Celts: +9 (18 points, legit good game)
Celts: -22 (worst on the team by a lot)

This guy gets caved in, a lot. Almost always the worst player on the court for us, and almost always a net negative. But he's getting fucking starters minutes.

It's nuts.

Raptors are 5-5 over those 10 games. 3 of those losses were by 2 points or less. McCaw was a combined -27 in those 3 games, in 27 minutes a game.

Just sticking him on the end of the bench in those 3 games could have easily led to wins in all 3.

Yeah I ain’t getting it either. Davis has proven to me and a lot of others that he is a better option than McCaw. I don’t understand that one at all.

I get the Serge over Boucher one MOST of the time , but Chris has come up huge before and deserves more time at some point. I’m not quite sure Masai won’t try to include him in a deal this year to get something while he has proved to produce. (Chris that is)

Neck and neck. Unless that positive or minus preceding the number, or the order of the numbers, matter.

Even if McCaw was a +36 and not a -36, the difference between +36 and +63 is significant. Over those same 10 games, Kyle fucking Lowry (who is a massive analytics darling) is a +35.

So yeah, that's how good TD has been (granted, against lesser competition in a number of those games...not all, but a number of them).

Just to underline this point, here's the +/- for the rotation during that time

Davis: +63
OG: +42
Lowry: +36
Serge: +25
Oshae: +23
Gasol: +16 (1 game)
FVV: +12 (6 games)
Boucher: +12 (9 games)
Norm: +7 (2 games)
Pascal: +5 (2 games)
RHJ: -17
McCaw: -36

Basically, McCaw is a bum who is gutting us single handedly whenever he's on the court. On a team with probably the deepest rotation in the league, he drags everyone around him down.

With how well Norm and TD played, I'd even like to see us switch the rotation around and start using Lowry/FVV as a true point guard tandem. If you want Lowry-FVV together for closing time (last 5 minutes of a close game)...sure. But to limit minutes (both are playing too much when healthy for my taste), I'd be entirely good with Lowry-Norm as our starters and FVV-TD as the guard duo off the bench with Thomas coming in as a professional shooter whenever needed.

Starter: Lowry-Norm-OG-Siakam-Gasol
Bench: FVV-TD-Jefferson-Boucher-Serge

Both units have guys who can make and create their own offence, both units can defend their dicks off.

Yeah Norm is definitely making that a real possibility.....though i still don't actually trust him yet.

Boucher seems to me to really need minutes because when you're trotting out a bench unit with ibaka/rhj/mccaw then suddenly you have a lineup with a serious lack of outside shooting.

Do you think FVV is a legit star type replacement for Kyle or simply a solid third guard in a rotation getting his 25-30 minutes a night with good stats .

Not sure ponying up 20 mil is the answer , his role might be that of Vinnie Johnson stud bench player

FVV is a solid but not great starting guard in my opinion, who as long as he's your 3rd option you're probably a contender level club. 20 million x 4 would be a steal for him with where NBA salaries are going.

The Microwave was only a bench player because he spent his career behind two all NBA guards.

Strength of Schedule Before Tonight:

5. TOR .512

19. MIA .495
20. IND .492
