OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

This is the Scottie that can be the #1 option on a contender. Aggressive, looking for his mid range shot, being physical and getting to his spot.

aaaand uses the gravity he's created with his shooting to get an and-1 for Jake.

Beautiful.

10 to 1 at the 3pt line.

On one hand...it's a make or miss league. On the other, I consistently see our shooters forced into taking contested 3's while at the other side of the court I see opponents getting wide open 3's more or less whenever they want.

especially annoying because scottie is handling giannis one on one so i don't get how we keep collapsing.

Even if Scottie was struggling, this isn't the 00's anymore where the logic was to make someone else beat you. Everyone in the league can shoot now. If you're collapsing on one guy all the time and leaving shooters open you're going to get smashed by 2-3 guys who shoot 45% on open 3's.

agbaji playing way too much.

both Boucher and Mogbo should be up high in the bench rotation, especially with lopez and portis shooting 3s all night, but neither have played.

I think everyone being healthy is offset by a team either quitting on a coach, or a coach not being very good, or a roster simply not being very good. Or everything above.

Latest Jimmy yammerings:

- A lot of talk about Phoenix trying to go all in for Jimmy, but they're going to need a 3rd team who will take Beal as Miami hasn't actually lost their fucking minds and have indicated that Beal isn't part of an acceptable return. Detroit has been mentioned as the 3rd team but apparently there is some new cap gymnastics shit that makes it unlikely...aside from, you know, the part about taking on the worst contract in the league and Phoenix really only having a 2031 1st and a few 2nds between now and then to sweeten the pot with.

- Brooklyn has been mentioned as well, with a package centred around Cam Johnson. They could probably make it work with Ben Simmons expiring deal from a salary standpoint as well. I struggle seeing Brooklyn giving up draft equity in the deal though and I struggle to see the fit if they're tanking.

- Memphis is apparently interested. That has to be something like Smart, Kennard, and Clarke to make the money work.

Don't be super surprised if we end up involved in the deal as a 3rd team. We have a ton of expiring salary (which Miami allegedly prefers, they want as little salary from this deal carrying over into future years as possible). Of all of the deals I've seen mentioned so far, that Golden State scenario involving us still makes the most sense.
New CBA makes it very difficult to take on bad money if your capped out

Maybe some common sense prevails when maxing out players on their second or third deal for non superstar players
