Oh, I think it definitely does matter. I mean, if you turn trading Luka into the assets that supports the creation of a perennial contender/champion for a bunch of years. For example, the Lindros trade. You can't lose a prospect like Lindros ever either, but the Nordiques turned it into a mini dynasty all the same.

It can be done. Probably shouldn't ever be attempted though, sure.

Also, this isn't a Kawhi situation. Kawhi was a 26 yr old proven champion. Embiid is turning 31 and is the biggest playoff flop in recent NBA history.

I don't see the upside that makes it worth the risk.
