OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Denver's front office has some work to do. Murray and Gordon aren't worth their money but they're atleast good. Porter is a fringe starter making 40 million though, they've gotta find someone looking to do something drastic and stupid. Atlanta, Philly, Phoenix, Sacramento.

One of the brave individuals who helped rescue Alijah from the burning vehicle shared his harrowing account of that day:
"I remember hearing banging on the car window, but I couldn't see anything because the smoke was so thick. That's when I realized someone was inside. I tried to break the window, but it wouldn't give. Then I saw one of the windows was cracked just enough and we used everything we had to bend it and pull him out. The car was on fire. We just knew we had to get him out."

Gil is going to roast the shit out of the cybertruck when everything settles.

Thats the problem with this league , fringe starters to decent rotation depth are stupidly overpaid

Man, The Heat need a rebuild.

Nah. They need a batman. Herro looks like he's turning into a pretty good Robin at the offensive end, and Bam is a really nice 2 way modern 4-5. There are rumours that Giannis is going to be available for trade this summer and Miami probably has the pieces to get that done.

They just need to get a batman for some combination of salary (wiggins, rozier, robinson), kids (Ware, JJJ, Jovic) and draft capital.

Pat's not doing a rebuild. Not when he's got 2 fringe all stars at 27 and 25 yrs old in house. Just for the sake of argument:

Wiggins + Robinson + Ware + JJJ/Jovic + bucket of 1sts for Giannis + Portis/Connaughton probably gets a deal done.

So Miami would go into the off season with

C - Bam
PF - Giannis
SF - JJJ/Jovic (whichever isn't traded)
SG - Herro
PG - XXXXX

Bench
Portis
Rozier
Connaughton
Highsmith
Davion
Anderson
Burks
Love

They probably trade Kyle Anderson for another bench body they can use and they need a PG/POA defender (NAW and Melton are both available in free agency and would fill that), but Miami never struggles to attract ring chasers and good vets, so I don't think they would struggle around those margins much.

fringe all stars might be more of a hype thing than anything.

Herro has finally turned into an actual solid scorer, but only a 2nd/3rd option type still, and he's still a defensive sinkhole.

I highly doubt that's a core piece for a contender.

Herro was tied for 18th in the NBA for OBPM this year, so if we assume for a second that this is just him maxing out his development (which wouldn't surprise me, his shooting increase this season came from an improvement in the mid range, and his overall shot diet being more efficient) and this is him going forward (which looking at the numbers I don't think is unreasonable), then he's a high end offensive Robin who needs some but not a hilarious amount of sheltering at the defensive end. Like, we're into Austin Reaves level D here, a decent step up from his early career impacts.

If this is him, he can be a 2nd option on a contender, especially with Bam being such a good defender as the other Robin in the equation.

For arguments sake, Giannis-Herro-Bam is a title contender core imo, definitely. As good or better than most title winning cores over the last few years.
