OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

I still think we can finish top 3-4 as long as we get about 50 games from Kawhi.

We're 4th in the east right now in net rating (+1.8) and I'd argue that we haven't actually been good. In those 3 games Kawhi has been largely a non factor in the 2 games he played, and Scottie is shooting 35%. Ja'Kobe and Battle are the only 2 regulars shooting anywhere close to normal numbers for them...and despite how hilariously bad the shooting has been, our overall offensive net rating is 18th. Hit shats and that's close to 10th. If we're a top 5 defence, and a fringy top 10 offence....yeah, we're winning 50+.

How about make it past game 3 without a contact injury

But why does it matter? If you're going to spend the entire time measuring him by "made up interval in which he can't play 3 games straight during" then you're missing the entire point of this move.

There's obvious durability concerns with Kawhi. So obvious that mewling over each time he sits for a week or two is deeply silly. What this move is, at it's core, is a bet that in at least 1 of your 3 attempts with him, he's going to be healthy enough in the playoffs to drive a deep playoff run that has a legitimate shot at a finals appearance. That is the only real criteria to measure this against. We paid a discount price (as I've shown you before) to get him because of the situation. We have a young roster that's deep enough to win 45ish games on their own without him and we have picks and contracts that allow us to take another major swing at some point in the next 6-18 months to add another impact player if one hits the market. It kind of doesn't matter if Kawhi plays 20 regular season games or 65, as long as he's healthy and in form for the playoffs. Nobody is going to remember the time he dropped 33 on the Pelicans in mid november or some shit.

Kawhi is probably the least injured star player who is set to miss time right now.

and we're probably the best of the rosters sans our star player other than OKC.

Notable players out with injury right now:

Kawhi
Kyrie
Lively
Williams
Chet
Wallace
Caruso
Antman
Kneuppel
Cam Johnson
Duren
Tingus
Butler
Sengun
Haliburton
Zubac
Ingram
Suggs
Banchero
Sharpe
Keegan Murray
JJJ

Holy fuck. Everyone is dead.

Raptors hang 69 on Orlando, up 16 at halftime. Started slow, then played Raps Basketball.

They probably need a legit scorer off the bench, but that defense will take them far when they are plugged in.
