Was more useful until Biggio got back. To play Panik you have to play Biggio where he's terrible, in a corner OF spot, both of which we have legitimately good players in. Gurriel and Teoscar are both average to plus defensive corner OF. What little value Panik brings is with the glove and he's our 3rd best 2nd baseman, 3rd best SS and 2nd best 3B glove. Meh.

If Rowdy can find that 115 wrc+ or better form, that's a valuable stick to have around. Nailing him to the bench for the sake of...what? Cavan to DH? Cavan to Corner OF where he's terrible?

Panik only has a position right now if you play Cavan out of position.
 
it was a pretty good game. Actually, I was surprised that the Jays tied it in the 9th. I don't blame any one person for the loss.

Biggio is pretty terrible at 3B to be honest. Panik can spell him there. To be clear im not thrilled at all with Rowdy or Panik as the top bench bat, much like the bullpen they should address this via trade, ideally a LHH that can play a little 3B. Adam Frazier would be a nice fit IMO. He hasn't played 3B in a couple years but maybe you convince Semien to move over there? Like Marcus is surely going to get paid regardless what he does for the rest of the season.

My issue with Rowdy is that to get out of his funk he needs PA's and he's currently fairly unplayable, hitting worse than Panik, and offering zero's elsewhere. When Springer gets back, he moves to the bench where he's going to be asked to get out of his funk while getting very few PH opportunities. Frankly, as overall players Espinal and Panik currently have more value.

They are going to need to trade for a RP eventually, sooner rather than later and probably open up a 40 man spot in the process. I can see Tellez going with some lotto ticket prospects for a Frazier/Moran and R Rodriguez sort of deal with the Pirates giving Rowdy everyday PA at 1B to find himself. We dont really have the luxury of doing so.

SS - Bo
2B - Cavan

Espinal and Panik are replacement level at best, Rowdy can be more than that.

And six years for 31 year old George Springer, dear lord, how deeply offensive and out of touch. It's not like the top free agents sign 10 year contracts with the biggest market teams or anything, right?

I'm sorry, are you actually trying to say the Jays have not routinely paid more, and longer, for FA's?

....and you're pulling the sarcasm angle?
