OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

This is why others said they needed to address the terribleness of the pitching staff in the offseason. I believe that your attitude was, why bother, they can just address it at the deadline.

You are seeing why that approach doesn't work.
That was not my attitude at all. I was one of the people posting that pitching was a weakness that needed to be strengthened.

Yup dozens of trades happening every day now, it's just so easy.

PANAC MOVES ALWAYS WORK OUT FOR THE BEST!!!

Eh, it's almost like this was possible to see this winter when they were constructing this club.

No need to panic if you use just a tiny fucking bit of functioning foresight. The pitching staff was obviously shambolic from the onset. That we even got this far into the season before it became a problem is a gift.

I don't do baseball but I have a question for the folks who don't watch anymore. Do you not get any enjoyment out of having some exciting young players including one of the best players in the sport? I've had 0 faith and hated management for all my favorite teams at one point or another but if I got to watch a Matthews type of talent prance around for 82 games a season I would at least try to enjoy the fuck out of that!

I have not missed a Vladdy or Bo AB this year, but I've maybe only seen ~10 of them in real time.

That triple play was laughable and it's all on Bichette. First for going to third when Semien hadn't committed, and second for just hanging out there after the Yankees had Semien in a rundown. His job once there was a rundown was to occupy third base. Semien would be out, but there would be a runner on 3rd. Zero chance of them both getting back safely. Very little league.

That reminds me of when Barry Bonds enjoyed his epic HR year and I caught most his at bats. It was surreal. The guy never swung at a ball; and rarely swung and missed. I know he was juiced, but c'mon, he should be in the HOF just for his discipline and strike zone judgment alone.

And a few years later Bonds walked 232 times, (120 intentional LOL) and struck out 41 times in 617 plate appearances

yeah, his eye was unreal. I've seen Vladdy's and prime Bautista's in Toronto who have elite strike zone judgement but Bonds was something else entirely.

The Jays are the only team under .500 with a positive run differential. They are +43, 4th in the AL. Their X-WL based on run differential is 38-29.

It's bad, but not as bad as it looks right now.

Iirc we were bang on .500 at about the 100gm mark in 2015, with great underlying numbers.

We decided to trade away these prospects to bolster the rotation, bullpen, and multiple additions to the position players:

(With career MLB stats)

M.Boyd (24): 147gms, 5.3ip/gm, 112era-, 106fip-, 107xfip-
D.Norris (21): 136gms, 3.5ip/gm, 103era-, 100fip-, 103xfip-
J.Hoffman (22): 78gms, 3.5ip/gm, 126era-, 120fip-, 121xfip-
M.Castro (20): 255gms, 1.2ip/gm, 95era-, 108fip-, 111xfip-
J.Cordero (23): 83gms, 1.0ip/gm, 105era-, 97fip-, 101xfip-
J.Brentz (20): 33gms, 1.0ip/gm, 46era-, 86fip-, 99xfip-
J.Tinoco (20): 30gms, 1.5ip/gm, 80era-, 155fip-, 128xfip-
J.Labourt (21): 6gms, 1.0ip/gm, 102era-, 120fip-, 182xfip-
Rasmussen (25): 30gms, 0.9ip/gm, 183era-, 109fip-, 111xfip-
A.Tirado (20): ---
N.Wells (19): ---

So basically, all for one solid but unspectacular starting pitcher.
