OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Bo hit .337/.378/.543 in the second half last year.

They’re just protecting against the risk that he does something like that all season and gets huge money in arb in 2024 and 2025. Risk = managed.
 
3 year deal, I hope he excels as SS, but my hope is if he doesn't the Jays don't screw around. If he's going to stay fine, maybe you baby him a bit, but let's get a SS that makes it impossible for Bo to maintain his stance without looking like an ass.
 
I mean, can’t you sign him to the long term deal so that you have the option to trade him later? Or keep him when his contract looks better and better with each passing year while bigger contracts get signed?
Bo doesn't exactly seem like the sort of player who was willing to give up FA years. At least, not for a cheap price. I'm surprised they even agreed to eat up the arb years.
