OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Vladdy really scuffling right now, but he always figures it out. Springer showing signs of coming back to life lately.

Alejandro Kirk is a mystery (kinda like Manoah). Always good since he came up, but suddenly can't hit at all. BB/K rates totally normal but advanced stats are shit so far. Still think he'll come around sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately, Kirk is continuing to hit exactly like he did in the second half last year. He hit .246/.340/.320 last year after the all star break. He has 15 XBH in his last 500 PA.

Kirk came to camp in decent shape last year and it seems possible that as his fitness dropped off, so did his performance. Or maybe pitchers have adjusted, but either way, Kirk needs to make some changes.

No doubt Shatkins fucked up the offence in the off season in their need for "balance".

All of their trades made me cringe at the time.

Could have kept the same team and added KK, Belt for just money if that is what they wanted to do.

They are so damn incompetent. Now they have to try and fix the mess they created themselves for "reasons".

I hated losing Moreno. Kirk is so out of shape who knows how he'll hold up
I know there has to be a team with the slowest guy in baseball, it just doesn't have to be us.

Even when he is hitting I have a fundamental problem with a baseball player not being able to do baseball things, whether it's throwing or running, catching the ball whatever...in Kirk's case, once he is on base he is a liability so I never cared about his bat enough to keep him.

i mean the bottom line is that Kirk was a beast with the stick until this year. Below are his Statcast numbers for 2022 and 2023. All you need to know is that red is good and blue is not.
