OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

If the power is real, Valenzuela is real...

Babip is fine, HR/FB rate is fine. All of the fluke indicators say that he's just hitting the ball hard enough, often enough for these outcomes to be reasonably likely.

Problem with Pinango is that his glove might be unplayable and his stick is good but just good. Tough to stick at DH if you're a line drive hitting 110 wRC+ guy

it took 10yrs, but I think we may finally be seeing the start of the famous "waves of prospects" that the FO first promised us.

there's been a trickle in recent years Barger/Schneider/Horwitz/Wagner/Roden but now it's starting to turn into a bit of a stream...Yesavage/Pinango/Valenzuela this year already....with the likes of AAA McAdoo/Schreck/Kasevich on the verge....and then a large number of guys in AA deserving of promotion like the already promoted Keys but also Bohorfen Harry Micheletti Pinto Parker Burgos Goodwin all hitting very well....and that's before you even look at the younger higher-upside guys like Nimmala and Arias who are already holding their own in AA.

and there's some slightly old guys in vancouver who are starting to look deserving of a promotion to AA like Hernanrez/Gleed/Latta/Cunningham.

and then Dunedin is starting to look a bit special with some super high upside teenagers looking very good in King/Sanchez/Parker/Bullard and a bunch of other 20-21 yr olds looking promising too like Shaw/Ramon/Gaxiola.

we're not quite there yet but we might finally be on the verge of seeing it.

Jays need the home grown talent on the cheap to offset big UFA spending

Team needs a few stars to emerge

Good depth as a 4rth OF or part time DH ,

Tough to keep 110wRC+ out of the lineup, but yeah. I'm generally good with hiding an impact stick in LF if the glove is weak, but the stick needs to be impact at that point. I don't know if Pinango qualifies or ever becomes that.

I love that the org is pumping out rando prospects like this though so we don't have to go the free agent market looking for platoon bats, and have young, cheap players with legitimate on field value to use in packages when swings at star level players are available.

Also, who knows. Maybe there's more "there" there with Pinango. Tighten up the glove some, learn to work counts better and draw some walks, maybe he's a starter.

and they have some guys with legit star upside in the likes of Nimmala/Sanchez/Parker/Bullard/King and some others, and then when you have a big enough group of just 'good' prospects you can always reasonably expect a couple of them to pop, too.
