OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

One of the best teams in the AL since the deadline. Unfortunately the hole was too big, and they had to be the best.

Also using the Yesavage injury as an excuse is hilarious, we were dogshit with him, his injury was just the final blow in chasing down the last playoff spot in a weak as fuck AL.

Treating Bieber as anything more than an okay 3-4 is also pretty funny, any good team worth it's salt should recover from that and Barger while really fun and interesting is a non everyday corner OF worth 2-3 wins

NYY was missign Judge, Cole, Bellinger, Rodon, Grisham this year
BOS was missing Anthony, and Crotchet

Our problems, are

Vlad
A lot of fringe players on the roster asked to play above their cababilities
Age/Injuries killing miracle Springer
Some injuries

At its core though, this team isnt good enough and needs to make 3 major acquisitions, minium 2 bats, and 1 SP.

You fatass dumbass, make those adds and if we have the same injuries and unusual underperformance as this year, it’ll be the same result.

It’s like if you traded cookies for ice cream. You’d still have your same diabetes.

I cant fucking stand that you polluted this thread with your stupidity.

Its one thing with the Leaf one, cause i dont really care, and you can quasi pass off hockey knowledge cause you either like it more, or do roller derby or whatever.

Please dont become a Raptors fan, you malignant cunt.

Whatever the equivalent of stuffing your face till you can’t talk is for typing, do it. We need you to get just as proficient at the latter as you are at the former.

Ernie Clement is kinda looking Santiago Espinal lite.

One really good season with really good D that both seem to be a bit of a mirage.

Now, on one hand between last year, the WS run, WBC and this year the dude has played way too much baseball, and might just be gassed, but my guess is he is best served as a supersub utility INF that mainly plays against LHP, which is a very good and useful player.

Josh Smith is probably the LHH version of this.

And if they add a stud at DH/OF in the offseason, i'm probably okay with a Gimenez/Clement/Smith trio in the MI

Clement has already had an elite upper-tier outcome career for a player with his pedigree (4th round pick, weak minor league numbers, negative WAR at age 27.) He still probably has a few years left as a MI backup which is great. His 2025, playoff run, and start of this year were all gravy.

Much like David Schneider, whose star burned ultra-bright when he first came up. Or Brett Bateman, whose bat may mot be playable in the future when his .419 BABIP comes back to earth. These guys should revel in their limited success, and as fans you have to able to let them go.

The org has been pretty successful finding these guys in recent years and getting some good play out of them without being sentimental. Of course they’ve had to cycle through a lot of junk along the way.

Ideally Clement is a super sub for the infield, Lukes is a platoon corner OF if the other corner has a legitimately good starter in it but I've always liked the idea of having him as a Clement for the outfield. He plays all 3 positions well enough and hits righties decent enough that if he ends up with 450+ PA in a season you're fine. Bateman is fine as an everyday CF just on the glove+speed+contact profile is worth it at 2 positions, and he plays one of them....though I'd rather it be an either or with CF/SS and not both guys living off of their glove, but if the worst thing you can say about your lineup is that the two offensive lightweights are elite defensively as SS & CF, well fine. As for Straw, I think you can have one of Straw or Bateman, not both. Lukes plays a functional enough CF to spot start there or cover for short injuries.

That's the thing, none of these guys are bad per se, it's just that we have too many guys who aren't bad and not enough guys who are actually good. If you're aiming to build a 95 win team, maybe 2 of these guys tops should be everyday players.

Jays are back!

I'm mostly thinking about next year. A mythical "Healthy Santander" in the DH spot next season would be good. Even if we don't want him here long term, I'd much rather trade off of him when he's been healthy for a few months and putting up a 115 wRC+ with power than I would as a pure dump with a few years of term left on it.

We might be stuck there yeah
