OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Players are different in stature and stance , how would technology understand the strike zone

No offence man, but as a species we can measure the spin rate on both a curveball and a sub atomic particle. I don't think determining the difference between a short and a tall guy is going to cause too many sleepless nights at MIT.

How exactly do you think the modern world functions?

Yeah, the way they test it, they pre-input all the details. The only "problems" are that since the strike zone is technically knees to chest, players can in theory impact the strikezone by crouching more or standing taller at bat. I don't know if they 100% account for that, or simply set it as defaults so if a guy crouches down maybe technically he still has a strike zone above his head.

The bigger questions are always about flat strike zone vs 3d strike zone. Technically, ANY part of the plate counts to the strike zone, so you could in theory have a real looper of an eephus pitch be way above their head at the front of the plate, but catch a piece of the back and technically count as a strike.

The should just set the bottom of the strike zone at the knees (which cameras have no problem with) and then set the top as a strict height above that.

get rid of the plate...hitter decides what's a strike and only swings when he gets a good pitch

Who says they "have to" use a baseball?

And Biggio is outstanding. He can play at least 5 positions competently. Possibly even more. He’s not a 3B but he’s doing fine. Better than putting some slub like Espinal there and guaranteeing yourself below replacement level.
