Gibby was also junk fwiw

Just better junk than the junk we've had since.

Moral of the story: appreciate your junk because the new junk might be junkier than the old junk
Which has been my take on Dubas, not that I think he's junk at all. He's great. But he has failings here and there, but fuck he is a billion times better than whoever would replace him if he got fired. That much I know without even knowing who his replacement would be.

I liked Gibby. I think he's the best we had since Cito. The rest were literally all embarrassing.

If this was the NBA where there is a good number of data driven top execs that can run a good organization, I'd be a bit more insistent that we consider regime change shortly. In the NHL though, firing Dubas fucking terrifies me because I know some asshole from rural Manitoba who thinks that you should walk off your concussion and the most important thing about being a defenceman is being 6'3 or taller takes over.

Ironically, Dubas' strategy of stacking the top of the lineup would work better in the NBA than it has in the NHL so far.

Yup - it would be some neo Burke who would set us back a thousand years.

Dubas' stacking strategy should work in the NHL too. Our best guys just don't show up in elimination games for some reason. As infuriating as it is for me, I can't imagine what's going through Dubas' head each time.

Had the balls and vision to hit his best hitter in the 2-hole and stack the top of the lineup with sluggers, to bring in Price as a "reliever" in the playoffs, operated an ingenious fastball/offspeed pitcher platoon combo with Smoak and Cola, somehow turned a team of old sluggers into one of the best baserunning teams in baseball, Took no shit from his players but was a players coach anyways.

Awesome manager.
