OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

So does anyone want to see some Yankee history made in Toronto this week, or should they just intentionally walk Judge every time he bats?

We don't need to win the series but my hope is to do so. If that means judge hits the big one against us, then so be it.

Aside from that, if judge hitting this key homer and going into the history books means Yankees have to put up an extra $50m to retain him? Oh yes then, Jays 10-1 with Judge Homer. Sign me right up.

Yeah Judge is going to get paid an insane amount regardless, almost certainly by NYY. But I guess 65 HR and the triple crown might make it even worse.

It’s been clear that Jays are making the playoffs for a while and I don’t think it makes that much of a difference which wild card spot they get, but I’m REALLY sick of playing the Rays and Yankees. If the season ended today it would be Tampa (at home) in the wildcard and then NYY if they win. Fuck off to that. That’s slightly better than playing Tampa on the road, but maybe the second worse outcome, IMO. My order of preference:

Seattle at home
Cleveland on the road
Seattle on the road
Tampa at home
Tampa on the road

Seattle has an easy schedule but they’re limping to the finish line (3-7 in last 10). Tampa has the tiebreaker against Seattle (and against Toronto, of course).

Hmmm I just noticed that my reasonable, balanced, not-at-all-regrettable Berrios hot take from last year’s deadline was right in one way. I predicted that Martin and Woods-Richardson might put up more WAR than Berrios as soon as this year.

2022
Martin + SWR: 0.0 WAR
Berrios: -0.5 WAR

Nailed it.

Apology accepted!
