OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are open to moving Guerrero to third base next season if they're able to acquire a first baseman this offseason, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Analysis:Heyman lists Pete Alonso as the bat the Blue Jays could bring in to force a position switch for Guerrero. Vlad Jr. made 11 starts at the hot corner this season and was an everyday third baseman during his rookie year back in 2019. How eager Toronto might be to move the slugger across the diamond on a full-time basis isn't clear, but it might be considered for the opportunity to add the right bat.
 
Big and stupid would be signing Soto and then trading Vlad instead of having both of them or just signing Vlad and using that extra money to make a much better team. Not excited for any moves ahead with this group in charge and really annoyed Vlad will not be extended.

Honestly, the future of the team is in pretty rough shape. The team's prospect pool is one of the worst in the league, and if they actually lost Vlad+Bo without getting more than a qualifying offer pick in return, it's going to be a decade before the team will be back to relevance. So in reality, the best shot is for them to go all in for Soto/Fried/Bregman/Alonso/etc..., hopefully that's enough to convince Vlad+Bo to extend long term, and you just pray that the team can get lucky in the next 2-3 years.
 
If they give anyone a 7 year deal I’ll be surprised. The surprise being that ownership is giving this management group the ability to hamstring the next management group with that long of a deal.

Again, sign Soto and everything they’ve ever done is forgiven. Otherwise this team has too many holes to fill and probably not enough money to fix everything. I’ve been seeing the Moncada Rumors, the Gleybor Torres Rumors and that’s the more likely avenue I see them going down. Something something shared risk.
 
Vladdy should’ve been locked up by now or a long time ago and they would’ve had an even better shot at recruiting. Now these idiots have insulted him and he sees the free agent light at the end of the tunnel along with Bo
 
I can swallow a mega deal to one of the guys that you will regret giving it to if it means resigning Vlad, and continuing to add and Yano try. Having one of those dudes on the hook while Vlad leaves would be a nightmare

That said at the end of the day I expect a handful of mid tier moves and flyers. Whoever said Gleyber, that kind of feels right or maybe Manaea/Pivetta and a guy like Yoan. Risky talent wise but not cash wise. Loser shit
