OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Gausman picking up Bo after the error with the massive bases loaded DP and then Bo immediately picking up Gausman with a titanic game tying blast was just chef's kiss amazing.

Im not saying i do that deal, but Joe Ryan is the exact type of SP i expect these guys to be targetting. Young, cheap, really good ( 3 WARish) and controlled.

Im nervous about dealing Yesavage, but i think i would ( as opposed to Nimmalla) because of the SP depth on the farm in King, Stephen, Stanifer and Rojas, but it would have to be for a Ryan, Alcantara or Cabrera

Easy yes for me.

Very unlikely that Yesavage is ever as good as Ryan. Orelvis is interesting and has some upside, but his most likely future outcome is role player.

Ryan would be a huge upgrade and has two more years of control. Coulombe is one of those LHP that found his groove in his mid-30s, and he’s been good for a few years now. He’d be a big upgrade too.

My only problem with Ryan is that he gives me a little bit of Berrios-like vibes. He's put up great numbers, and on paper seems like a perfect add. But I can't shake the feeling with him that he's just going to be like a good supporting arm. This year is his first year truly putting up ace-level numbers.

But if you're gunning for it, Ryan's the arm you want right now. Alcantara you're still paying for him based on what he was like pre-injury, I don't know if was rushed back from injury or what, but he's been absolutely dreadful all year. Not sure who else is a potential impact arm on the block.

The other question I guess is how much the team pushes in. It does feel a little like the year to try, with Springer probably in his last grasp, and getting one last run in with Bichette before you have to let him go, as well as Gausman/Scherzer/etc.. If you're pushing in the chips to make a run, then no prospect is untouchable.

I like Edward Cabrera more than i like Alcantara, but like both

Lol at Ben attributing this as some kind of normal gm speak

ā€œWe have some key contributions from different areas and some good balance to our 40-man and our our 26-man,ā€ Atkins said last week at Rogers Centre. ā€œSo I think we'll be more focused on, (and) have been focused on, how we can improve the 40-man roster, how we can incrementally improve the 26-man roster.ā€
